4th grade math

Here are some things you can do to practice.

- Practice skip counting by 2, 3, and 5 starting at the number 65. Remember to go at least two numbers above 100.
- Count forward 1 to 100 and backwards 100 to 1. It is important for great mathematicians to be able to know which number is next without having to stop and count.
- Practice your multiplication facts
- Solve the following word problems using the strategies open number line. Email me your word problems and work because I would love to work them out and see if I get the same sum.
I made 54 cupcakes on Monday, 47 cupcakes on Tuesday, and 61 cupcakes on Wednesday. How many cupcakes did I make in all?
I went to the pet store and bought 62 gold fish. When I brought them home, my cat ate 38 of the fish. How many fish do I have left?
- Write a math story book, like the book about Tom, and don't forget to illustrate it. If you choose this activity, please email me your book because I am always looking for something good to read.
- Take a deck of cards and take the face cards out. You can use the cards to practice your fluency in adding and subtracting like we did in class.
- Take the deck of cards and draw two cards to make a number, example would be 2,6 making the number 26. Draw two more cards to make another number, such as 8,6 making 86. Take the two numbers and add them together and than subtract them using open number lines for each. 26+86=               86-26=
- Practice adding or subtracting these three digit numbers using an open number line. I am giving you three problems to solve and I challenge you to come up with five of your own. My problems are: 264+486=, 521-348=, 753-254= . Email me your work and problems so I can work through them and see if we get the same sums.
- Play the game Pathways
Use a coin with heads being 1 and tails being 10. You will flip the coin. If it lands on heads, you add 1 to the previous number. If it lands on tails, you add 10 to the previous number. You will make a pathway from 1 to 100. You can see an example game I played below. Have fun and email me a picture of your games.
1 2
  12
  22 23 24 25
        35 36 37
            47
            57 58
              68
              78
              88
              98 99 100

- Play adding game 101. Use a number cube to get the number you will use to add as ones or tens. Remember you HAVE to use all six rolls! Use your open number line to find your difference. Here is an example of a game I played. Good luck!
Rolled number- 3 0+30= 30
Rolled number- 4 30+ 40= 70
Rolled number- 2 70+2= 72
Rolled number- 5 72+5= 77
Rolled number- 6 77+6=83
Rolled number- 1 83+10=93
